Curriculum - Seasons of the Spirit
St. John’s is using an arts-enhanced,lectionary-based program as the Church School curriculum this year. Seasons of the Spirit is based on Biblical passages used in Sunday worship known as the “lectionary” . Engaging stories, songs, games and crafts have been designed to use withour inquisitive primary grades children. Class sessions help teachers guide thechildren in questioning, exploring and challenging through group play, activities, songs andprayers. Youth in the intermediate and middle grades will engage in examiningbroad concepts and themes as they explore their place in God’s diverse andchallenging world. Class sessions help teachers communicate unconditionalacceptance and how faith helps people weather problems, accept shortcomings andmake wise choices.
In addition to teacher and student print resources, Seaons of the Spirit provides a virtual library of downloadable content as PowerPoint slides, activities, articles, Bible background, poems, songs and artwork to support weekly class lessons.
Our Church School journey this year will be one of Christian fellowship, worship and service.
