National Episcopal Church Women’s mission is to empower women to do Christ’s ministry in the world. The ECW vision is that the women of the Episcopal Church become a vibrant blend of all ages coming to-gether to be a God-spark, shining and sharing the love of Christ.St. John’s ECW is part of the Diocese of Newark’s network of Episcopal Church Women’s groups, although our programs are developed independently of the larger church. St. John’s ECW has long sponsored a film fest of movies and books that spark lively conversations about religious, spiritual, and moral issues.Based on Matthew 5:38-48, the theme of St. John’s 2017 ECW film season is “Agape Love”. We will explore ordinary people who go Matthew’s second mile. The essence of agape love—selfless, sacrificial, unconditional—infuses our chosen movies and book.
ECW will meet on the first Monday of the month until our last meeting in June at 7:00 PM in St. John’s new lounge/vesting room. All parish women and your friends are invited to attend.
Our 2017 season:
February 6: Where Hope Grows
March 6: The Lady in the Van
April 3: Book discussion: An Invisible Thread by Alex Tresniowski and Laura Schroff
May 1: Tangerines
June 5: End of Year Dinner
Please join us for evenings of camaraderie and thought-provoking discussion as we support each other in our spiritual journeys. For information, contact ECW co-chairs Marilyn Bartholme and Janice Hardy (HardyCJR@aol.com or 845-357-8244).
